Introduction
ScanBolt ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application.
We built ScanBolt with privacy at its core. Your scanned documents, photos, and extracted text never leave your device unless you explicitly choose to share or export them.
Information We Do Not Collect
We want to be clear about what we don't do:
- We do not collect your scanned documents or images
- We do not collect OCR-extracted text
- We do not collect personal information
- We do not track your location
- We do not sell any data to third parties
- We do not use advertising trackers
Information We May Collect
Analytics Data (Anonymous)
We may collect anonymous, aggregated analytics to improve the app, such as:
- App crashes and error reports
- General usage statistics (e.g., feature usage counts)
- Device type and iOS version (for compatibility)
This data is fully anonymized and cannot be used to identify you personally.
Purchase Information
If you make a purchase, the transaction is processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive only a confirmation of your subscription status—we never see your payment details, credit card information, or Apple ID.
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions, which receives anonymized purchase data from Apple. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy for details.
Document Storage
All your scanned documents are stored locally on your device. If you enable iCloud sync, documents are stored in your personal iCloud account, which is governed by Apple's privacy policy. We have no access to your iCloud data.
Camera and Photo Library Access
ScanBolt requires access to your camera to scan documents. This access is used solely for scanning—we do not store, transmit, or process your photos on any external server.
Photo library access is requested only if you choose to import existing photos for scanning. This access is optional and controlled by you.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Apple App Store: For app distribution and in-app purchases
- RevenueCat: For subscription management (anonymous data only)
- Apple iCloud: For optional document sync (your private iCloud storage)
Data Security
Since your documents remain on your device, you maintain full control over their security. We recommend:
- Using a device passcode or Face ID/Touch ID
- Keeping your iOS version up to date
- Enabling iCloud backup for data protection
Children's Privacy
ScanBolt is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last updated" date.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your data, including:
- The right to know what data we collect (as outlined above: essentially none)
- The right to deletion (you can delete the app and all local data at any time)
