Summary: Use ScanBolt responsibly, respect intellectual property, and don't use it for anything illegal. Subscriptions are handled through Apple. We provide the app "as is" and aren't liable for how you use it.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using ScanBolt ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you and ScanBolt ("we," "us," or "our").
2. Description of Service
ScanBolt is a document scanning application that allows you to:
- Scan physical documents using your device's camera
- Apply filters and enhancements to scanned images
- Extract text from documents using OCR technology
- Export documents as PDF or image files
- Organize and store documents locally or in iCloud
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the App. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.
4. User Responsibilities
You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes. You shall not:
- Use the App to scan, copy, or distribute copyrighted materials without authorization
- Scan or reproduce identity documents, currency, or other items where reproduction is prohibited by law
- Use the App for any fraudulent, illegal, or harmful purposes
- Attempt to reverse engineer, modify, or tamper with the App
- Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the service
- Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law
5. Intellectual Property
Our Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, features, code, and content, is owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App.
Your Content
You retain all rights to the documents and content you scan using the App. We do not claim any ownership over your scanned documents. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to scan and use any documents.
6. Subscriptions and Payments
Free Features
The App offers limited free features, including a daily limit of document scans.
Premium Subscriptions
Premium features are available through in-app purchase subscriptions:
- Monthly: $4.99 per month
- Annual: $29.99 per year
- Lifetime: $49.99 one-time purchase
Billing
All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. By purchasing a subscription, you agree to Apple's terms and conditions for in-app purchases.
- Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
- You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings
Refunds
Refunds are handled by Apple according to their refund policies. We cannot directly process refunds for App Store purchases.
7. Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Implied warranties of merchantability
- Fitness for a particular purpose
- Non-infringement
- Accuracy of OCR text extraction
- Quality of scanned documents
We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Loss of data or documents
- Loss of profits or revenue
- Business interruption
- Inaccurate OCR results
- Any damages arising from your use or inability to use the App
Our total liability for any claims arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ScanBolt and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from:
- Your use of the App
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Any content you scan or share using the App
11. Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without notice, for conduct that we believe:
- Violates these Terms
- Is harmful to other users or third parties
- Is harmful to us or our business interests
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device.
12. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice in the App or updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Norway, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
14. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except where prohibited by law. You agree to waive any right to participate in class action lawsuits against us.
15. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
16. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and ScanBolt regarding your use of the App.
